Supporting Specsavers on their journey to electrification.
With five sites across the UK and limited parking space, Specsavers required an EV charging solution that could balance practicality, scalability, and ease of management.

Background
Growing demand amongst staff and fleet
Specsavers Manufacturing and Distribution approached VPG EV Solutions to support with EV charging requirements due to a growing demand amongst their staff and fleet. With an increasing number of employees opting into salary sacrifice schemes for EVs and the adoption of an electric company van, Specsavers required a reliable and scalable charging solution across multiple sites.
Problem
Reliable & Scalable Charging Solution
Specsavers needed a reliable and scalable EV charging solution to support staff participating in salary sacrifice schemes, as well as supporting their company electric van. With five sites across the UK, each with limited parking space, the challenge was to implement a system that could serve the charging needs and offer seamless management and ongoing support.
Solution
Autel AC Ultra Dual Port Chargers & Charge Management Software
Consult
Specsavers engaged with VPG EV Solutions to recommend the most suitable charging solution. After conducting detailed site surveys, VPG EV Solutions proposed the Autel AC Ultra dual-port pedestal chargers. VPG EV Solutions’s team of experts, including a dedicated Key Account Manager and Electrical Design Manager worked closely with Specsavers to understand operational needs and site constraints.
Design
VPG EV Solutions’s scope included the full design of the charging infrastructure across all sites. Our expert team conducted on-site meetings with Specsavers to develop a tailored plan for installing the Autel AC Ultra dual-port chargers. Given the limited space available, the design focused on optimising the placement to maximise usability and reliability. Each site was allocated one dual-port charger to support both fleet and staff vehicles.
Build
VPG EV Solutions carried out all civil works and electrical installations, completing the project across all locations within two weeks. The installation was executed to NICEIC specifications by VPG EV Solutions’s accredited engineers, ensuring high-quality workmanship and safety compliance. The build phase was delivered on time and within budget, with minimal disruption to daily operations at each site.
Maintain
To ensure long-term reliability, VPG EV Solutions provides ongoing maintenance and support for all installed chargers. This includes a 48-hour service level agreement (SLA), 24/7 technical support and remote monitoring and diagnostics via our Occulus charge management platform. Specsavers staff also received training from VPG EV Solutions on the Occulus platform and praised it’s interface and flexible access controls.
