Heliox MCS Charger
Adopting heavy-goods electric trucks is challenging due to the long recharge times for large battery packs. In the UK and Europe, drivers often cover hundreds of miles daily, but eTruck batteries can’t yet support such distances. The Heliox Megawatt Charging System (MCS) solves this by fully recharging heavy-goods vehicles in just 45 minutes, significantly reducing downtime. Designed for flexibility, the Heliox MCS can charge six vehicles simultaneously at 180kW or one truck at 1 MW, making it an ideal dynamic, multi-tiered solution for the growing eTruck market. The combined charging system (CCS) has long been at the forefront of the EV charging industry due to its versatility for various vehicles. However, as the electric heavy-duty truck market expanded, the limitations of CCS became evident. These trucks require significantly more energy than standard passenger vehicles, leading to excessively long charging times with CCS. As a result, there is a growing need for more powerful charging solutions to meet the demands of heavy-duty electric trucks.
Heavy-Duty Charging
The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) is designed for commercial trucks and high-power applications. It addresses the limitations of CCS by enhancing charging capabilities and communication. MCS can handle up to 3000A and is set to become the standard for long-haul trucks, aeroplanes, and other commercial vehicles. Its higher power output makes it ideal for rapid, time-sensitive charging applications.
The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) can deliver up to approximately 3.5 MW of power, significantly reducing the charging time for large battery packs compared to CCS. While CCS might take hours to charge a truck, MCS completes the task much faster. MCS is designed for efficiency, ensuring maximum energy transfer to the vehicle’s battery with minimal losses. Additionally, MCS is equipped with advanced cooling systems to safely manage the rapid energy transfer, protecting the equipment and the vehicle.
