The lack of high-power charging infrastructure hinders electric vehicle (EV) adoption for heavy-duty and industrial applications, leading to long vehicle downtime. At VPG EV Solutions, we can address this issue with our advanced megawatt charging systems designed to deliver rapid and efficient energy transfer. These systems significantly reduce charging time, and support the growing demand for high-capacity EVs. By implementing these solutions, we can ensure that industries can transition smoothly to sustainable transportation without compromising productivity.
The Four Step Process
Whole Life Solutions
Site Survey & Design
Our business development team will determine your current and future charging requirements while our engineers carry out a site survey to create a bespoke and future-proof charging solution.
Installation & Commissioning
Overseen by our project management team, our OEM-approved engineers will install and commission your chargers, and connect them to our remote monitoring software Occulus.
Full Life Maintenance
Regular Over-The-Air (OTA) updates and on-site maintenance to OEM standards is the key to keep your chargers charging and vehicles moving.
Unrivalled Support
If an issue occurs, our networks team are immediately notified and will remotely access your charger to resolve the issue. If needed, we offer on-site response in as little as 4 hours.
Heliox MCS Charger
Adopting heavy-goods electric trucks is challenging due to the long recharge times for large battery packs. In the UK and Europe, drivers often cover hundreds of miles daily, but eTruck batteries can’t yet support such distances. The Heliox Megawatt Charging System (MCS) solves this by fully recharging heavy-goods vehicles in just 45 minutes, significantly reducing downtime. Designed for flexibility, the Heliox MCS can charge six vehicles simultaneously at 180kW or one truck at 1 MW, making it an ideal dynamic, multi-tiered solution for the growing eTruck market. This global standard ensures 100% interoperability and maximises road time for operators.
MCS Megawatt Charging Systems
The electric heavy-duty truck industry is expanding swiftly, propelled by advancements in battery and charger technologies. This growth is further fuelled by the increasing demand for zero-emission transportation solutions. The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) is a high-power charging solution for electric trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles requiring power above 1 megawatt. This system significantly reduces charging times, enabling rapid energy transfer to support the demanding operational needs of large electric vehicles. MCS is crucial for industries seeking efficient and sustainable transport options, providing the infrastructure necessary for the widespread adoption of electric heavy-duty transport.
The combined charging system (CCS) has long been at the forefront of the EV charging industry due to its versatility for various vehicles. However, as the electric heavy-duty truck market expanded, the limitations of CCS became evident. These trucks require significantly more energy than standard passenger vehicles, leading to excessively long charging times with CCS. As a result, there is a growing need for more powerful charging solutions to meet the demands of heavy-duty electric trucks.
Heavy-Duty Charging
The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) is designed for commercial trucks and high-power applications. It addresses the limitations of CCS by enhancing charging capabilities and communication. MCS can handle up to 3000A and is set to become the standard for long-haul trucks, aeroplanes, and other commercial vehicles. Its higher power output makes it ideal for rapid, time-sensitive charging applications.
The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) can deliver up to approximately 3.5 MW of power, significantly reducing the charging time for large battery packs compared to CCS. While CCS might take hours to charge a truck, MCS completes the task much faster. MCS is designed for efficiency, ensuring maximum energy transfer to the vehicle’s battery with minimal losses. Additionally, MCS is equipped with advanced cooling systems to safely manage the rapid energy transfer, protecting the equipment and the vehicle.
